Overnight
camping helps young people discover who they
are.
Trained,
caring counselors offer a supervised and positive
environment for youth and teens to "spread
their wings." Through a variety of activities,
campers learn values and character-building
skills that prepare them for a lifetime of challenges
ahead. Your child's summer camp experience reinforces
the YMCA four character values - honesty, caring,
respect and responsibility.
At
the beginning of each session, counselors (many
of whom were once campers themselves!) wait
to welcome campers and parents. Some campers
are eager to see friends from last summer; some
are nervous about leaving home; some are excited
to try new adventures. All are welcome
at camp.
It
is not long before your child discovers the
wonders and fun of overnight camp. Hiking trails
echo with laughter, hushed whispers reveal secrets
being shared, campers splash each other at the
waterfront and cheers of victory spill from
the sports fields. Campers soon have new friends,
renewed self-confidence, and a sense of independence
- all adding up to fun memories that last a
lifetime.
