The
YMCA four character values -
honesty,
caring, respect and responsibility |
Cabin
Communities
Unique building block to the overnight camp community
is belonging and contributing to cabin life. Campers
of similar ages reside in cabins that are equipped
with bunks, mattresses, screened windows and doors
and electricity. Cabins are grouped to create
villages, with bathrooms and shower facilities
centrally located. A positive cabin environment
encourages group decision making and shared activities,
all of which help campers mature and become appreciative
of others.
Each
day concludes with cabin vespers, a time when
campers share experiences and feelings about their
day. By the time the lights go out, disagreements
are settled and friendships are strengthened.
Camp Directors
Tom Archer takes responsibility for Camp Mi-Te-Na.
Tom began attending Camp Mi-Te-Na as a young child
and grew from camper to counselor, from program
director to assistant director, from director
to now, Executive Director of Camping Services.
With his leadership, Camp Mi-Te-Na and Camp Foss
have grown in the number of facilities, quality
of camper experiences, and the number of campers.
Tom celebrates over 38 years in resident camping
and looks forward to affecting positive changes
at camp. Rick Ross has 37 years experience as
a camper, counselor and director - all at Camp
Mi-Te-Na, where he currently serves as director.
Both Rick and Tom use their extensive experience
and expertise to effectively prepare camp counselors
for your child's camping experience! |
